Welcome Letter from Chris (PYE Founder)

PYE Digital Citizenship Curriculum

Opening Letter

Updated: September 1, 2021

The Protect Young Eyes team (www.protectyoungeyes.com) has traveled the globe speaking to hundreds of schools and church groups about using technology well. But we realize it’s not always possible for us to come speak in person. We created the PYE Digital Citizenship Curriculum to be flexible and relevant.

  • For faith-based institutions, this means lessons written through the lens of Holy Scripture.
  • For secular institutions, this means lessons that give your students tools required to navigate digital spaces that were not designed with them in mind.

FAQ:

Q: If I used your Virtue in Media lessons before, can I simply begin using the updated curriculum free of charge?

A: Yes! We appreciate that you jumped on board with VIM and want to reward that decision.

Q: Why are the lessons all house in Google Drive?

A: For maximum flexibility. You can download everything to your local machine. This includes downloading the videos from Vimeo.

Q: How long is each lesson?

A: We estimate that many lessons could be done in around 15 minutes. This will of course vary based on age and discussion time.

Q: Can parents also have access to the videos in the lessons?

A: Some schools have chosen to also license our Protect App for all families. This provides the perfect bridge between school and home where parents have access to the same videos + unique discussion questions just for the home.

Q: What if I have trouble with the curriculum. Who should I contact?

A: If while using this content you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Warmly,

Chris McKenna
